We kicked off Day 4 very early, as we had to be down in the hotel lobby and ready for our long commute by 6:10 AM. Yawning and dragging our luggage across gravel, which was no small feat, we set off on a full-day journey to the island of Samsø.

Our first leg of travel was by bus, which rolled right onto the Molslinjen, a Danish ferry, bound for Aarhus. Onboard, some of us caught up on sleep while others explored the lunch options, like the Danish hotdog! It was the perfect mix of rest and refuel before landing in Aarhus.

Once there, we had some free time inside a multi-purpose community hub that had something for everyone: a world pool championship in progress, a full library, an art exhibit, a weather segment being filmed for the local news, and even a Danish makerspace. The unexpected stop turned out to be a hidden gem and gave us some fresh air before our next ferry.

After another hour on the water, we finally arrived at the island of Samsø. Surrounded by beautiful architecture, calm seas, and farm fields, the island had a very peaceful energy. A private bus met us at the dock and took us straight to Flinch’s Hotel, our cozy home base for next two nights.

There, we were welcomed by none other than Søren Hermansen, the CEO of the Samsø Energy Academy and a global leader in sustainability.
Dinner at the hotel was a crowd favorite—chicken, steak, and Danish cake felt like a perfect conclusion after a long day of travel. The evening ended with students playing pool in the hotel lounge, talking, and unwinding in preparation for tomorrow’s deep dive into renewable energy.

We also saw an incredible dark sky full of stars - some of us have never seen so many stars before due to the light pollution we are exposed to in the city outskirts. Some of us used apps to spot constellations, and we even saw Mars next to the moon! It was quite cold but so beautiful being on top of the round tower next to our hotel.
