Today was a big day for us as we transported from Florence to Rome, where we will spent the rest of our trip. This morning, we went to the Basilica of Santa Croce and saw its many rooms and halls filled with beautiful artwork, stained glass windows, and some of the most elaborate architecture we’d seen yet. We also saw the burial sites of many famous people, including Machiavelli and Galileo. There were both Renaissance pieces and late medieval pieces that we viewed. We then went our separate ways for our last lunch in Florence, and we met again and prepared for our trip to Rome.
After checking out of the hostel, we headed to the train station and said goodbye to the busy and narrow streets of Florence. We left Florence and were again greeted with beautiful views of Tuscany on the train. After arriving in Rome, we took a bit of a hike to our hotel, where we checked in. It’s a traditional rustic hotel with unique rooms each with their own individual charm. We then headed for dinner at a Korean restaurant, Ristorante Gainn, where we bonded over delicious food and our trip thus far.
Rome awaits us with plenty of exciting things to do, and we are all very excited! Thanks to Joella Chase (AVPA'19) for the photos!
