    Thoughts, musings, and ruminations.

We had a great time in Aarhus but now it was time to go back to Copenhagen. However, our tickets back to Copenhagen were messed up and the boys and Mr. Tronicke had to leave at 6:15! We were all really tired and slept on the bus and ferry. Once we got to the train station, the boys had about...

Day 5 was probably the one day with the least walking we've ever done, because we traveled from Copenhagen to Aarhus via bus and ferry! After a quick breakfast at Danhostel, we walked to a bus stop near the central train station and bought lunch at the station. Many opted for Joe and the Juice,...

It was our fourth day in Denmark. Everyone was really excited to go to the Bongarden, a farm-to-table expereince. However, it was not what we expected. First we were given a presentation by the most successful man, I think I have ever met in my life. He had not 1, not 2, but 7 companies. He...

Today, we woke up bright and early for school! After a 16-stop Tube ride, we arrived at Latymer Upper School, located in Hammersmith, near the River Thames. It was established in 1624 by Edward Latymer and has approximately 1200 students. Most students are admitted through an examination and...

We began our morning with an energizing walk to Gordon’s Museum of Pathology. The Museum, which is a part of King’s College London, is the largest medical museum in the UK and is only open to medical professionals and doctors, not the general public (but we were able to sneak a look!). The museum...

We started off our 4th day in London at Guy's Hospital, which is part of the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We heard multiple lectures from Dr. Paul Johns, a consultant neuropathologist for the NHS, spanning topics from general anatomy to brain structure and pathology. In between...

We started the day with a hearty breakfast at the WomBAR, the breakfast and cafe area at our hostel. We had our first experience on the world-famous London Underground, also known as the Tube (it was a totally Tube-ular time!). After minding the gap, we made our way to the British Museum, which...
DAY 3: May 19th, 2023 Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! Today was our first full day at Denmark and it was filled with so many exciting views and activities. We started the day with breakfast at the Danhostel (where some students were brave enough to try the local fried...

Our journey across the Atlantic started in the College Center of BCA as all 24 of us arranged ourselves in a circle to introduce ourselves and shared what we were most looking forward to on our trip. Things were smooth-sailing from the bus ride to JFK to security to finding dinner from a variety...

Day 1: March 17, 2023 After seeing a neon-pink sunset on our way to JFK (taken as a good omen!), we boarded the plane to Denmark and spent a turbulence-free flight fighting jet lag (from ~11 pm in NYC, to ~1 pm in Copenhagen!). Plane amenities included in-flight entertainment (and a great...

Due to technical difficulties, pictures will be added later. Day 7: March 24th, 2023 Hello my lovely readers—I am back within the same time zone as most of you! I’m sure some people would be unhappy to hear that, upon my return, I immediately opened up Word to draft this blog instead of...

This global experience, formally titled the "Influence of Italian Art and Culture in Modern Western Civilization" students will discern the links between Ancient Rome, the Italian Renaissance, and the modern world.  Students will visit Rome and Florence to explore various sites of ancient and Renaissance architecture, as well as art museums showcasing art of those periods. They will examine how architecture had a technological impact, as well as the role the arts played in the formation of modern ideals in western culture. The two different cultural and sociopolitical centers (ancient/Renaissance Italy and the modern New York area) offer an appropriate context for this study, to realize common parallels in these disparate time periods and locations.

    Rome

Visit iconic sights such as the Pantheon, Colosseum, Roman Forum/Basilica of Maxentius, and Piazza Navona. Tour Vatican City and the Trajan Market. Experience a walking tour of the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane. Finally visit The Baths of Diocletian before hopping a train to Florence.

    Florence

After arriving in Florence visit the Basilica of Santa Croce, Il Duomo and Baptistry, Church and Museum of Orsanmichele, and take a Hill tour featuring Piazzale Michelangelo. Check out the Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza, Uffizi Galleries, Galleria dell’Academia, Hospital of Innocents, Church of San Lorenzo, and finish up Italy with an excursion and dinner in San Gimignano
